DIY Vegan Substitute For White Chocolate Recipe – More and more people are now going “homemade”.

The bread, cake, and easy bake machines started to sell like hotcakes (haha, that was an obvious joke), a few years ago, then it was the climax for homemade yogurts with yogurt makers … and many other delicacies.

Personally, in the kitchen, I am one of the people for whom cooking is not a chore, but a real pleasure.

Not being a magician (though), and not living in a parallel world where the days make 36 hours, I have little time to cook.

Also, on a daily basis, I favor healthy & gourmet cuisine, but above all fast & simple. I reserve the meals that require more time and effort to be prepared at weekends or on special occasions.

But there are also certain foods that I never made myself.

In fact, there are a lot of foods that you may never think about making yourself because they are considered basic foods: mustard, flour, butter, cheese …

And also chocolate.

Good chocolate cannot be misrepresented, it is created, people make it their job, and it’s almost like cooking.

And yet …

It’s so original to flavor your butter.

It’s so great to make your own homemade cheese.

So why not make your own Homemade Vegan Substitute For White Chocolate Recipe?

I’m not very fond of chocolate… The assortments of chocolates are almost infinite when it comes to black & its milk version … but white remains in the background and is discreet.

Yet… When you know what it is made of, it seems so simple to do…

So Let’s have our fun with homemade vegan white chocolate:

  • Flavoring it with fruit powders like raspberry powder, banana powder, blueberries powder…
    Or more simply, with a drop of essential oil (verbena, sweet orange, sweet mint, lemon, tangerine …)
  • Make it even more cheerful: with natural dyes such as matcha tea (green), spirulina (blue), raspberry powder (pink), caramel powder (yellow)
  • Decorating it with food glitter of all colors, or multicolored vermicelli for instance
  • Add more texture and making it even more delicious by adding cereals, nuts, or candied or dried fruit…

To make your own homemade vegan white chocolate recipe, you must:

♥ mold in the shape of a tablet
♥ organic cocoa butter: make sure it is an excellent food grade and filtered (i.e. white in color).
♥ icing sugar, the only sweetener that mixes perfectly with cocoa butter.
Do not try to use a liquid sweetener (agave syrup, rice or maple), or powdered sugar (cane): when cooling, the liquid sweetener becomes separated from the cocoa butter, while the granulated sugar does not mix well, and forms large lumps.

And, optionally, for originality and indulgence:

  • a little vegetable milk powder: almond milk is the best option however if you want to opt for a version with a coconut taste, try some coconut milk as well.
  • vanilla
  • colorants, natural flavors (matcha tea), cereals, nuts, candied fruit…

DIY Homemade Vegan Substitute For White Chocolate Recipe


(for 1 tablet of 100 gr)

  • 55 gr of filtered cocoa butter (white)
  • 60 gr icing sugar
  • 1 pinch of vanilla powder – optional
  • 1/2 tsp vegetable milk powder (soy or other) – optional

For original chocolate:

  • your chosen flavor/color/glitter (fruit powder, matcha tea, crushed hazelnuts, etc.)


  • Place your cocoa butter in a glass bowl
  • Melt the cocoa butter in a double boiler over very very low heat.

Do not worry if it seems to take a long time: it takes 10 to 25 minutes to completely melt.

  • Once melted: add the icing sugar.
  • If you choose to add vanilla & vegetable milk powder (both optional), add them too at this point.
  • Powders (colors or flavors) should as well be added in at this time.
  • Using a spatula (or fork), mix until the mixture becomes homogeneous.
  • Pour into your mold, and let cool completely.
  • Place in the fridge for at least 6 hours.

Why it seems like an excellent idea to prepare your own recipe of Homemade Vegan Substitute For White Chocolate???

  1. The nice thing is that you can measure the proportion of the ingredients to your own preference and individual taste.
  2. Commercial vegan store-bought white chocolate contains more sugar than cocoa butter.
  3. By making it yourself, you can make half cocoa butter and half sugar, or even add a little more cocoa butter than sugar.

At The End

I really liked this homemade version.

I find it better, and much tastier than the mass-produced vegan white chocolates (both organic or non-organic).

The one with matcha tea is delicately scented: you can smell the matcha, it’s yummy.

The strawberry one is … just pretty. The strawberry powder does not smell so much.

Maybe by adding pieces of dried strawberries, it could be even prettier ♡
